Let Go of Your Baggage

Some days, I still wake up anxious and overwhelmed. It’s not my norm anymore, but it happens. When it does, I’m reminded that all the “to-dos” that I carry and the stories causing that anxiety is like baggage. It’s as if I was sleeping with an overloaded backpack on, and now am trying to stand up… I’m already off balance, already off kilter. I’m not focused or productive because I’m thinking about all the things I have to pull out of my backpack and do one at a time. This is why it is important to take off the backpack. Let go of your baggage. Acknowledge the weight of your attachments, and set them down.

There are many ways to do this, and I find it works best in a combination. Meditate. Journal. Run. Workout. Pray. Be a person. Be with yourself. Be with God. Make time and space before the “stuff” of your day to be fully awake and alive. THEN, consciously choose to pick up your “backpack.” Maybe there are even things you can let go of; tasks, worries, concerns that aren’t yours to carry. You’ll come back to your work with fresh vision, with a full heart, and you’ll be strong enough to carry (and focus on) what matters.

Wake up and be a person! Let go of your baggage with your powerful morning, and be a powerful you!!
