Be kind to you.
I've known first hand the destructive power of self-loathing, and I've also known first-hand the uplifting power of self-love.
People are surprised when I tell them my checkered past with self-esteem because I seem so positive and inspiring now. How could I have been any different? If I am the latter, it is because I have known the former.
The way we judge others is the way we judge ourselves. The way we love others is the way we love ourselves. In a world that may afford every reason to be unkind, be kind, and be kind to you.
Do little things as sacred and special, rituals to uplift and support you. Make time for things that are important to you. Find the joy, adventure too. In whatever, just remember, be kind to you.
YOU are the one who is going to experience your life. You are the one who has ultimate say so about what your days are and mean to you. Have compassion on your responses, and be the first to show yourself love when you need it most. Let compassion soften with humility and empathy, it will get carried to others, but we have to first practice it ourselves. Be kind to you.
