We Can FLY
I was getting adjusted the other day when I went suddenly into a vivid daydream.
I pictured myself standing on the roof of my house. It was night, the moon was full, but there will still few stars in the sky. I looked down, then looked up, then jumped... And I FLEW!!
Up, over the neighborhood, all around the lake where I see eagles play, down and over the Sound before turning back to fly around Mount Rainier. I felt free, exhilarated, and joyful!
The picture lasted but moments, and within a minute, it was time to stand up for my final check with the doctor to make sure I was clear and ready to go. Yet, my smile lingered with me.
You could say that in reality, I was getting adjusted and thinking thoughts in my head. Maybe I didn't really go anywhere, but in my mind, I flew. Not only that; but the joy, gratitude, and freedom I felt were readily available. Those feelings were inside me already, just waiting to be contemplated and cultivated. I didn't have to leave my workplace or the adjusting table, that taste of goodness was right there.
This for me captures one of the simple joys of childlike imagination.
When we play, we return to curiosity and possibility. We access ways of being not based on our resources but our creative capital within. We explore, we wonder, we imagine, we meditate, we practice joy, not ultimately to avoid the stuff of our "real life" but to return to our parasympathetic and playful habitation.
In our minds, in our hearts, in our lives as they are right now, we can fly.
Who and how you desire to be is available within.
